Overview
The plant is a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station and one of a series of efficient, environmentally friendlier stations. The plant was first commissioned in November 1994. Total output of the plant is 515MW running at base load.

Gas Turbines
The plant has two Alstom Power plc GT13E2 gas turbines, which each weigh 350 tonnes and can produce 167 megawatts of electricity. Both GT’s have undergone MXL efficiency upgrades, which increases the total plant efficiency to 52% (54% net electrical efficiency)

Steam Turbine
The steam turbine is an ABB/Alstom DKZZ-2N41A 3 pressure with combined HP/MP and dual flow LP.
Steam from the heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) drives the single steam turbine, which has a power output of up to 176 megawatts of electricity from its associated generator. The turbine consists of a combined high pressure and medium pressure stage and a single low-pressure stage.
The steam turbine underwent a major overhaul in 2013.

Condensing
The plant utilises under slung condenser, hybrid cooling towers.
The tower design incorporates a combination of wet and dry cooling sections and a 10 meter diameter fan housed in a single cell.
